Hand-painted linen with hand-colored leather.

Linen, derived from the flax plant, is one of the strongest natural fibers in the world.

Historically, the Egyptians used linen as currency and made sails of it. Alexander the Great's linothorax armor was made of linen panels. Caravaggio, Magritte, and Warhol painted on it.  The material culture of linen, and its traditional beauty combined with its ruggedness and strength, is why we chose linen rather than a synthetic fabric to make your bags.

We hand-paint uncolored, unfinished Belgian artist linen. Rather than using fabric dyes, we mix solvent-free pigments and finishes to hand paint the linen panels of your bag the colors you specify during our video call. Our hand-mixed colors have a transparent quality that doesn't conceal the natural color of linen.

The techniques we have developed stiffen the linen and make it water repellent and stain resistant. When finished, the linen is impermeable enough to allow us to hand-paint the color combinations you specify on opposite sides of a single layer of linen. Our colors are colorfast and stain resistant.
